Hair Growth Treatment Q & A

KeraLase Hair Growth Treatment

KareLaser is a combination treatment of KeraFactor Scalp Stimulating Solution and LaseMD Laser Technology

What is KeraFactor™ Scalp Stimulating Solution?

After 6 years of extensive research, the KeraFactor™ line of products for thinning hair was introduced, including the KeraFactor™ Scalp Stimulating Solution. Each highly concentrated 50ml bottle of KeraFactor™ Scalp Stimulating Solution contains the proprietary KeraFactor Peptide Complex (KFP™). KFP™ is unique in that it includes 7 Polypeptides that include both specifically selected growth factors and skin proteins to help with hair and scalp health. This patent-pending complex helps to “turn on” weak or resting hair follicles, improve scalp circulation, and add nutrients to help produce thicker, longer healthy-looking hair.

What is LaseMD?

LaseMD is a Fracional NonAblative Laser – which means that it uses laser energy to create micro-channels in the skin through which it works its effects. These micro-channels allow for optimum penetration and absorption of the topically applied KeraFactor scalp stimulating solution.

How does this treatment work?

KeraFactor delivers large quantities of key growth factors and proteins into the scalp that lead to significant improvement in scalp health and vascularization - leading to hair rejuvenation. Extensive studies led us to discover that most patients with thinning hair and baldness lack certain key growth factors. If these growth factors are delivered in the right depths and concentrations, with the appropriate bioavailability profile like KeraFactor, dramatic improvement can be accomplished. Lutronic offers technology which prepares the scalp prior to administration of Kerafactor. The Lutronic LaseMD system creates a conduit into the upper dermis in a no downtime, 5-10 minute treatment with minimal discomfort. Studies have shown the LaseMD 1927nm has been shown to enhance skin absorption over 5 times.

Why use LaseMD?

One of the key functions of the skin is to protect the interior of the body from toxins, injury, etc. While the nanoliposomes that hold the growth factors are quite small, the skin resists the penetration of the product. The Lutronic energy based technology (LaseMD) is optimized to prepare the skin for the KeraFactor serum and enable it to penetrate far more readily than with the skin intact. One study showed that the LaseMD facilitates 5.5 times more skin absorption than without.

What happens when/if a patient stops therapy (does this require maintenance)?

There have been patients who have maintained their results even after 18 months of stopping the use of KeraFactor. Once patients finish the protocol, they should continue using the take-home to maintain the effect that has taken place. We do encourage patients to return to their KeraFactor provider on occasion to examine the scalp and whether retreatment is warranted.

Will it look natural?

As KeraFactor is a bio-identical hormone therapy, patients who respond will experience a natural progression in improvement and should look quite natural.

How does KeraFactor differ from using PRP?

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is a painful 45-minute procedure where blood is drawn from the patient, then spun in a centrifuge to increase the patient’s platelets, and then applied or injected into the scalp. Results are inconsistent. Only the growth factors available in the patient’s own blood will be released. If a patient is highly deficient in a growth factor(s) needed for hair health, then the PRP procedure may not be effective. Additionally, one of the common growth factors found in blood, TGF b1, may block the transition of hair follicles into the anagen (new growth) phase.
