Why Botox® and Fillers Are Better Together

Why Botox® and Fillers Are Better Together

Your face changes in a variety of ways as you get older. You might develop fine lines and wrinkles, deepening facial folds, sagging jowls, hollow cheeks, thinning lips, or all of the above.

Ultimately, because aging affects your face in so many different ways, employing multiple treatments can help you see the most revitalizing results. Here at Heights Aesthetic Laser Center in Brooklyn, our team recommends combining Botox® and dermal fillers to help you get smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Why both? Let’s take a look.

Understanding cosmetic injectables

Botox and fillers are two categories of cosmetic injectables. These treatments are exactly what they sound like: injection-based options to deliver cosmetic results.

Fillers and Botox work differently to address different signs of aging. To better understand what they can do for you, it’s helpful to look at each individually.

Botulinum toxin — or Botox, for short — is a cosmetic injectable that addresses dynamic wrinkles. These are the wrinkles that form because you repeatedly make the same facial expression. Forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet are all dynamic wrinkles, for example.

Botox works by temporarily paralyzing the muscle that’s causing your wrinkle. When the muscle relaxes, the skin above it does, too, smoothing out that line or series of lines.

Because dynamic wrinkles form on the upper portion of your face, Botox gives you an excellent way to reverse the clock there. It won’t do much for the folds on the lower half of your face, though, so we recommend fillers.

Dermal fillers

Fillers are another category of cosmetic injectable. Unlike Botox, which targets muscles that cause wrinkles, fillers replace volume. This helps defy aging because you naturally lose volume through the years.

This leads to issues like:

Fortunately, with strategically placed fillers, we can restore the natural, youthful contours of your face.

Using Botox and fillers together

Fillers and Botox both deliver noticeable anti-aging results with quick treatments (usually, 15 minutes or less) and no downtime. In fact, many people call them lunchtime procedures because they’re so convenient.

Used alone, both work well for the specific sign of aging they address. But if you have dynamic wrinkles and volume loss, you’ll need both fillers and Botox to truly address all of your cosmetic concerns.

Fortunately, our team here at Heights Aesthetic Laser Center has extensive expertise combining Botox and fillers to give people full-face revitalization. If you’re ready to get started, call our office, or make your appointment online today.
