What to Expect After Receiving Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is an aesthetic treatment offered here at Heights Aesthetic Laser Center. Shaving can be time-consuming and sometimes painful and irritating. Laser hair removal is a great alternative to shaving as it is a non-surgical, non-invasive way to achieve permanent hair reduction.

How does laser hair removal work?

Laser hair removal works by destroying hair follicles to prevent further hair growth. The laser energy produced by Clarity targets the hair follicle without affecting any of the surrounding skin. The intense energy heats the follicle, leaving it unable to produce hair.

What machine do we use?

Here at Heights Aesthetic Laser Center, we use Clarity, a multi-purpose laser that offers a range of settings so it can be used on all skin types. Clarity laser tool is a dual-wavelength platform that works quickly and efficiently. It offers a specialized skin cooling system to provide a more comfortable treatment as well.

After Care:

After the treatment, you may have redness or bumps. This is normal. To soothe the area you may use a cold compress, aloe gel, or 1% hydrocortisone cream.

Next, avoid heavy workouts that would result in sweating, saunas, hot tubs, and excessively hot baths or showers for at least 24 hours after treatment.

Avoid sun exposure for a minimum of 24 hours after treatment and for as long as any redness remains on the treated area. Use sunblock with SPF 30+ for a few weeks after treatment if going out in the sun.

If treating the facial area, refrain from using Retin-A, AHAs, and BHAs, for 48 hours after receiving treatment to avoid irritation.

The hair will be shedding for up to three weeks after treatment. It may seem like new hair growth but it is just the remainder of the hair coming out of the follicle. You can help the hairs out by gently using a loofah or washcloth. The only other acceptable hair removal method during your treatment regimen is shaving or trimming if needed.
